Ponder, Ponder, Ponder, Collaborate, Re-think, Revise, Submit. A Young Professional’s Story.

I am helping some young people – students and recently graduated – with a personal branding class, producing mini-BrandBoards. One of the input questions is “What is your work philosophy?”

There are some good answers (well, all answers are good if you believe it, of course). Grit, Get ‘er done. Hard work etc. Standard stuff, that reaffirms the messages we give our kids that sleeve rolling is a life skill, perhaps the biggest and best one.

Then one participant wrote this: ponder, ponder, ponder, collaborate, re-think, revise, submit.

Harold Jarche, for one, would be proud. His seek, sense, share methodology is a cornerstone approach to modern network thinking and success. For me, at my advanced age, it seems almost peculiar that someone so young would be so reflective.

If only I trusted myself to create space for me and my thoughts when I was younger, versus fluctuating between rampant self-belief and torpid vacuity! I hope both the grit/hard work and the hold-the-space mentality  showcases how Gen Yers are ready to take on the world. I am optimistic.
