I am a huge fan of the Rocky movie franchise. Stallone really nails the hero’s journey through battle, failure and redemption. The Disorganizer in me feels his pain, and the sweetly melancholic victory.
By Rocky VI, the protagonist may have had some brain damage, but boy, can he still deliver a punch(line). Speaking with his fed up, defeatist kid, Rocky hits him with the best piece of advice about working on change I have heard. He exhorts:
“Let me tell you something you already know…
“It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward…You gotta be willing to take the hits.”
Change is happening at an increasing rate all around us. Disorganizers need to bulk up, and react emotionally to the challenge. Keep fighting.
This Much We Know.
