Real Miracles Make Little Noise. Essential Events Are So Simple!

As usual, waiting for serendipity to strike is time well spent. Learning happens when new neural pathways are created, and they do so when your brain exclaims:

“Huh? Heh? Hmmm! Who knew?! I will squirrel that one away for another day.”

So, how important is a smile? Nothing short of miraculous, of course.

take-a-smile

I had this image on my desktop for a month or more. I knew I wanted to share it, but had no context. This morning, I thought, “well, I can just share it with an upbeat note.” [I don’t take the blog too seriously that I think every post rocks the world’s foundations…]

But then, just in time, Brainpickings to the rescue (a common occurrence), with this quote from the genius Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:

The essential, most often, has no weight. The essential there, was apparently nothing but a smile. A smile is often the essential. One is paid with a smile. One is rewarded by a smile. And the quality of a smile might make one die.

de Saint-Exupéry has a story how a smile literally saved his life. Nothing as exciting from me, but a simple reflection that a simple smile can make an essential difference.

Today, I choose to take a smile.
